Jason Shapiro, Instructor

Jason Shapiro is the founder and CEO of 82i, a growth services firm whose mission is to make entrepreneurship easier. In that role, he has advised 80+ clients as a fractional CFO and COO, raising over $400 million from venture, growth, and private equity investors. Before 82i, Jason was a SaaS investor with Resolve Growth Partners and Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, and an M&A advisor with Lazard.

His career began as a teacher with Teach For America, where he honed his passion for teaching others. He lives in Annapolis with his wife Anne, and daughters Charlotte and Clara.

Session 3:
How to Prepare (Part 1)

Laying the Groundwork for a Successful Raise


By the end of this class, you will be able to:

  • Present your business story compellingly.
  • Prepare your data (tip: thoughtfully and deliberately!).


  • Hands-on activities to review and refine your pitch deck.
  • Practice sessions to improve your pitch delivery. 

Session 4:
How to Execute (Part 2)

Beyond the Pitch and Closing the Deal


By the end of this class, you will be able to:

  • Get into the investor mindset and understand how they evaluate opportunities.
  • Apply an investor’s perspective to connect your story to your numbers.
  • Navigate the negotiation and closing process effectively.


  • Role-playing exercises to simulate negotiations.
  • Group discussions on handling tough questions and objections.
