Intro to P&L Fluency
The CFO speaks a different language. Intro to P&L Fluency is a 3-session course taught by Sam Jacobs, designed to give GTM operators the exact financial fluency their CFOs expect.
3 weeks • Tuesdays, 11:00–12:30 PM ET • April 7 – April 21
Sound Familiar?
78% of GTM teams missed quota last year. That's not a sales problem.
It's an economics problem. GTM leaders are measured on metrics they can't fully explain — and asked to defend budgets in a language they were never taught.
When the CFO asks why CAC is up and NRR is flat, the operator who understands the math walks out of that room with more budget, more trust, and more runway. The one who doesn't gets managed out.
This course exists because the gap is real, and it costs people jobs.
No one taught you this in your MBA or on-ramp.
You got promoted for hitting numbers. Nobody sat you down with a balance sheet. Now you're in the room where the numbers are made and expected to already know.
Budget conversations feel like a performance, not a framework.
You make the ask. Finance pushes back. You fight on instinct. There's a way to make that conversation mathematical, and to win it without getting emotional.
You know what the metrics are. You don't know why they move.
Gross margin. Payback period. LTV:CAC. Rule of 40. You've said all of them in a board deck. Do you understand why they matter — and when to challenge them?
Three sessions. One language.
Every CFO conversation, changed.

The Language of the P&L

Unit Economics & The Cost of Growth
April 14, 2026
Model CAC, payback period, LTV, and gross margin contribution. Learn to use those numbers in the budget conversation, not just a spreadsheet. Understand Sam's Rule: the longer you lie to yourself, the harder it is to unwind.

Understanding Valuation
April 21, 2026
Why 10x ARR was a moment, not a law — and what valuation actually means for how you run your team. Learn why benchmarking is not P&L fluency, and when to call BS on a multiple.

Common Questions
-
No. The course was designed specifically for GTM operators who were never taught this — which is most of us. Sam walks through every concept from first principles. If you can read a sales forecast, you can follow this course.
-
Coursera teaches accounting. This teaches how P&L, unit economics, and valuation connect to the decisions you make on Monday morning. The framework is operator-specific, the examples are from GTM companies, and you take it alongside a cohort of peers wrestling with the same questions in real time.
-
Depends what you already know. If you can explain precisely why CAC payback matters more than LTV:CAC at a specific growth stage, and why revenue multiples are situationally invalid, you might not need this. Most GTM leaders at VP and C-suite level have strong instincts but gaps in the formal framework. This course names the framework.
-
All sessions are recorded and available in your Pavilion Members Portal. You'll have access to slides, recordings, and homework templates from all three sessions. The live session is recommended — the Q&A with Sam is where a lot of the value happens.
-
Most of the value runs through Slack — 4,500+ messages per month, under 1 hour average response time. Post a real problem, get real answers from operators at your level. Layer in quarterly schools, city chapter dinners, and GTM2026 (Sept 28–Oct 1, NYC) and you've got a network that works as hard as you do.
Your CFO is already fluent. Now you will be.
