Back in the Game: On The Bench Success Story – Stacie Ward

Pavilion HQ
On The Bench Success Stories: Stacie Ward

At its core, Pavilion exists to help all types of people, in all types of roles, reach their professional potential. Whether you’re working to climb the ladder or just want to up-level your skills, Pavilion’s Career Services offer dynamic opportunities for networking, education, and career growth. One of those offerings is On the Bench — a full suite of resources available for anyone in between roles, with dedicated support from the Pavilion team.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll share Q&As with the Pavilion Members who’ve used our On-the-Bench (OTB) resources to land a new gig. Next up is Stacie Ward who just landed a new VP of Customer Success role at CourseKey.

Name: Stacie Ward

New role: VP Customer Success

Previous role: VP Customer Success

Time on the bench: 4 months

How did you feel during your latest job search?

I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to find something that was a good fit at a similar compensation package. I considered looking for an IC role, but only had one interview for that level.

How did our current environment impact your job search?

The impact was mostly around the remote nature of the interview process.

How have you searched for new roles in the past? Where did you look for support?

It had been a while since I looked for a role vs. being recruited for a role. Having OTB available was valuable because I wasn’t sure where to start.

How was this experience different? How did OTB help your search?

My last several roles were ones I did not have to seek out. I was a bit rusty when it came to actually searching for a new role. The other OTB participants were incredibly open and willing to share their experiences and offer support. I did a mock interview with one member to prepare for a job interview.

What OTB resources were most helpful to you?

The weekly meetings and speakers were excellent and so valuable. Meeting others in my situation also helped me feel like this was just part of a process that I didn’t need to take personally. There were other very qualified leaders in my position, who had also been laid off/let go/whatever. Meeting them really helped boost my confidence. They were successful and accomplished and were out of a job, just like me.

Would you recommend OTB to other members between roles?

100%.
