Dear Younger Kim,

Take a deep breath and let it out.

First, don’t take yourself too seriously. You do your best work when you’re filled with light, joy, and having fun.

Second, when you get to the table, act like you belong there. Don’t ask for permission. Don’t wait to be heard. Use your voice and speak up. You’ll soon realize that no one else at the table knows exactly what to do either; everyone is making it up with the facts at hand. In fact, act like you’re at the table even when you’re not.

Third, ask for the money you deserve. Ask for more money than makes you comfortable. No one is responsible for advocating for you except you. If you remember nothing else, remember this: if you are true to yourself, and do what is best for you in that moment, you will be a huge success.

Sincerely,
Your Future Kim
