Networking as a Secret Weapon with Natasha Birnbaum, Chief Strategy Officer, Mogul

It’s easy to underestimate networking given how much buzz there is around it, but networking really can be the secret weapon to propelling your career or transitioning into an entirely new one. It’s about meeting people and staying connected with those you have a genuine connection to — those connections can become career opportunities in the future if you nurture the relationship.

We spoke with Natasha Birnbaum, Chief Strategy Officer at Mogul, about how small efforts in networking can make a big impact on your career trajectory.

  • It only takes one cup of coffee: You only need one successful conversation to reap the benefits of networking
  • Networking is where hard work and luck meet: While it’s hard work to continuously reach out and meet with people, someone out there likely has your dream opportunity

Keeping It Simple for Salespeople with Sid Baveja, Senior Director of Global Commercial Growth, Just Eat Takeaway

Sales teams are under extreme pressure to perform, and there are a thousand different ways they can approach a sale to meet their target numbers. This can spell trouble for companies if salespeople don’t have the right guidance about which customers to approach and when, and managers are often faced with figuring out how to guide the sales team without overwhelming them.

We talked with Sid Baveja, Senior Director of Global Commercial Growth at Just Eat Takeaway, about how to simplify things for your sales team so that they target the right customer, at the right time, with the right information.

How to keep it simple for your sales team:

  • Be transparent: Make the sales targets easy to understand, so reps stay incentivized
  • Use the points system: Let teams gain points for making the right moves, so they have guidance on how to close the sale
  • Make it easily digestible: Connect the dots for your sales team, so they understand how their target numbers ladder up to business goals

Build a LinkedIn Brand with Sam Mckenna, Founder of #samsales

Whether you’re an introvert or extrovert, LinkedIn has become a key component of building a personal brand for career professionals. Personal brand is all about being known for your expertise and sharing thought leadership around what you know best. But for some, it can be tough to figure out how to get started. What do you post about? And will anyone pay attention?

In this episode, we talked with Sam Mckenna, founder of #samsales Consulting, about why it’s worth building your LinkedIn brand, how to do it, and how introverts can join in the fun.

Things to consider when building your LinkedIn Brand:

  • What do you want to be known for? The first step is understanding who you are consistently and letting that shape your reputation.
  • What to do if you don’t like posting: If you’re not extroverted, curiosity is your best friend. Even just asking meaningful questions on social posts can help you succeed.
  • Know that your audience is waiting for you: With millions of users on LinkedIn every day and only a tiny percentage of them posting consistently, audiences are hungry for more. Post and they will come.
  • Posting has tangible benefits: A strong personal brand opens up opportunities for networking, demand gen, and even new positions.
